This is a short film I did to test my ability to do character animation in After Effects. It's always fun learning new skills, and I'm definitely excited to do more projects like this.
The Process:
I started this project with a loose story concept, and worked it out visually with the storyboards.
From the storyboards I went into Affinity Designer to create all the assets per scene. I prefer Affinity Designer over Illustrator as I like the intuitiveness of the tools better. I created the color palette to work with and modeled the all the assets, bringing them into After Effects via Illustrator. Redundant  I know, but it was efficient for me.
After that, it was animation time. I brought all the assets into After Effects either with saved .AI files or using the plugin Overlord, and got to animating. Many pre-comps, nulls, and adjustment layers later, I had an animated piece that I finished off with a little live action and music and SFX.
